Any open standard commercial of the shelf (COTS) analogue (current/voltage) or digital (on/off) sensors can be written to or read by the system.  CCTV and network based cameras are also easily integrated. Using COTS hardware means that any electrician should also be able to connect almost any I/O device such as valves, pumps, access control etc.
