e-News-ICT - World First From Embedded Technologies Corporation Print E-mail
e-News-ICT News Letter by The Department of Industry and Resources, Western Australia Government, August 2004
Embedded Technologies Corporation Pty Ltd (ETCorp) has released the world’s first true Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) system that greatly simplifies the continuous monitoring, control and management of processes at the heart of a business enterprise or research project. Known as the GPAC® (General Purpose Automation Controller) ETCorp’s solution for automation problems offers an alternative to conventional PLC based controls.

“While others are still talking about it, we have quietly done it.”, said ETCorp’s Chief Technology Officer, Sahid Sesay, “The real benefit is for the end user.”

End users in diverse areas such as aquaculture, horticulture, viticulture, environmental monitoring and security can take advantage of the powerful integrated features of the GPAC® while enjoying its simplified implementation of automation.

Accessible remotely via the Internet and able to connect to a wide range of wired and wireless devices means the GPAC® can support extensive monitoring and system control networks. Users can easily add new devices or reconfigure or redeploy existing ones without the complications inherent in PLC based automation.

“Many potential users of automation find it too hard or costly to implement automation.” said ETCorp’s Chief Operating Officer, Jon Wilson. “ETCorp’s offering will complement existing automation solutions and take automation to new users. Scalability, flexibility, simplicity and low total cost of ownership are the key benefits that these users tell us they need in order to use automation. The GPAC® delivers this.”

ETCorp trialled its system with a leading aquaculture research institute. The feedback from this trial confirmed the benefits and has allowed a robust and functional product to be delivered in its finished form.

GPAC® systems interface to almost any conventional automation sensor or actuator while also integrating video. It can be implemented on most common industrial computer platforms using many forms of data acquisition hardware. ETCorp is interested in working with partners who are looking to expand their business through increased hardware sales or the integration of automation into their products.

CEO Martin Cebis said, “We believe that OEM’s, hardware wholesalers and systems manufacturers will benefit from sales growth into our markets. We welcome contact to explore how we can work together.”

ETCorp’s product launch event will occur shortly. See their website at http://www.embedtechcorp.com to register your interest.

ETCorp’s technology puts the person managing the process in the driver’s seat without the normal level of complication often associated with automation. If you would like to know more, contact ETCorp’s CEO, Martin Cebis.
