WA industry gets boost from COMET Print E-mail
Two more West Australian companies are about to reap the benefits of Australian Government assistance to commercialise their home-grown technologies following the announcement of the latest round of Commercialising Emerging Technology (COMET) grants.
Visiting COMET recipient Hydrogen Technologies with Liberal Candidate for Stirling Michael Keenan, Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane will today announce that Evap-Map and ETCorp willreceive $48,000 and $52,000 respectively.

"COMET is an outstanding program that delivers real benefits to recipients – it helps companies to take vital steps on the road to successful commercialisation.

"Hydrogen Technologies have gone from strength to strength and have raised extra working capital on the back of their COMET grant. I see companies like this almost every week and I’m sure that both Evap-Map and ETCorp will do just the same," said Mr Macfarlane.

The Minister and Mr Keenan will visit the premise of Hydrogen Technologies in Perth today for a demonstration of the company’s multi-function welding and cutting system which is being supported by a $97,000 COMET grant.

  • Evap-Mat Limited’s core business is the design, development, licensing and marketing of new and innovative mining technology. Their first project is a mineral leaching system.  The company’s first business proposition is the development and commercialisation of a new mineral leaching system which is a hybrid between existing heap leaching and tank leaching systems, with minimal impact on the environment.
  • Embedded Technologies Corporation Pty Ltd (ETCorp) has developed software and systems to enable low-cost, user-friendly automation of processes including remote monitoring and control in diverse applications previously not suitable for automation.  ETCorp's industrial grade automation equipment enables easy monitoring, logging and control of cameras, sensors, instruments and devices like pumps and valves. ETCorp's systems will be used in diverse applications such as aquaculture, research and security.

"The WA recipients are part of a national round of COMET funding, which has awarded $2.3 million to 52 innovative companies around the nation," Mr Macfarlane said.

"The Howard Government is committed to innovation and we are particularly committed to helping companies take the important steps to turn great ideas into products, jobs and exports."
